Call for Papers | Special Issue on “Economic Aspects of the Water–Energy–Food Nexus”

I am delighted to announce a new Special Issue of Water Economics and Policy, published by World Scientific Publishing, on “Economic Aspects of the Water–Energy–Food Nexus.” I have the pleasure of serving as Guest Editor, together with Demetrios G. Eliades, Stefanos Xenarios, and Peiyue Li, under the editorship of Prof. Ariel Dinar, Editor-in-Chief of Water Economics and Policy.

Water, energy and food systems are deeply interconnected and increasingly affected by climate change, resource scarcity, demographic pressures and technological transformation. Addressing these challenges requires moving beyond siloed approaches towards integrated, economically sound and resilient Water–Energy–Food (WEF) strategies.

We welcome theoretical, empirical and methodological contributions on topics including integrated economic modelling; cost-benefit, welfare and feasibility analysis; pricing and resource allocation; investment and blended finance; behavioral economics; empirical policy evaluation; digital twins and AI-enabled decision support; distributional impacts and equity; and institutional and governance economics. We are particularly interested in research that connects economics, modelling, finance, governance and technological innovation with real-world WEF policy challenges.

📅 Submission deadline: 30 April 2027
🔓 Open Access Special Issue
📄 20% discount on the Article Processing Charge (APC) for papers published in the issue.
