Global state of national urban policy 2024

This chapter provides the context, objectives, structure and the methodology of the report. To this aim, the relevance of a national urban policy (NUP) in effectively addressing urban challenges and ensuring
quality urbanization are highlighted at the beginning of the chapter; these were key themes explored in the previous two editions of the report. The chapter then continues with an outline of the report’s objectives and details of its structure. Finally, there is a description of the methodology employed, including a spotlight on the underlying global survey on NUP conducted in 2023.
