For too long, the world has funded disasters, not resilience. We’ve waited for the storm to hit, the earth to shake, and then rushed in with emergency funds. But a shift is happening a powerful movement demanding that we listen, learn, and invest before tragedy strikes.

The core of true resilience begins with two simple, yet revolutionary acts: recognizing risks honestly and listening to the communities who live with them every single day.

On this International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, the message is clear: Risk awareness can no longer be an exclusive club. We must democratize understanding, ensuring that the knowledge about potential threats is accessible, shared, and shaped by everyone.

That’s why we are incredibly proud to announce a groundbreaking new alliance. We are partnering with the visionary Lloyd’s Register Foundation, the driving force behind the global standard-bearer, the World Risk Poll, alongside engineering and sustainability leaders Arup, and the dynamic cities of Lagos and Salvador.

Our goal is nothing less than to create the world’s most people-centered approach to resilience. This isn’t about top-down mandates; it’s about empowering local action with global insight.

Together, we are weaving the collective wisdom of 147,000 voices from 142 countries directly into local resilience planning. This massive repository of human experience will arm city leaders with the tools they need to make smarter, more empathetic investments. They will be able to prioritize projects that respond equally to the hard facts of scientific data and the undeniable truth of lived experience.

This partnership is a commitment to a future where every investment in a city every road paved, every policy passed, every piece of infrastructure built is an investment in lasting security and human dignity.
