Sustainability reporting framework

This recommendation provides reporting companies and organizations with a clear framework for the preparation and auditing of sustainability reports. The aim is to support compliance with legal requirements while ensuring high-quality and credible reporting. This recommendation also addresses the auditing of sustainability reports. Reporting organizations should ensure that their reports are reviewed by qualified, independent auditors. Compliance with the requirements of the Audit Oversight Act (AOA), particularly Articles 2, 6a, 6b, and 16a, is emphasized. These provisions ensure that reports are prepared and audited according to recognized auditing standards. A thorough audit increases the
credibility and reliability of the published information. Companies are encouraged to view sustainability reporting not just as a legal obligation but also as a strategic tool. Sustainability reports can help enhance transparency for stakeholders, improve competitiveness, and build long-term trust. Additionally, reports should ensure that relevant information on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors is presented clearly, comprehensively, and comprehensibly. Particular attention should be paid to avoiding violations of legal requirements. This recommendation highlights the criminal consequences that may result from incomplete or inaccurate reports. Companies are therefore strongly advised to design their internal data collection and reporting processes in a way that ensures compliance with Article 325ter, Paragraph 1, Letters a and b of the Swiss Criminal Code (SCC). Finally, it is recommended that sustainability reporting be firmly embedded as an integral part of corporate management. This means that all relevant departments should be involved in collecting and analyzing sustainability data. Regular reviews and adjustments to the reporting processes help meet transparency and reliability requirements and actively contribute to the transition toward a more sustainable economy.
