World Wetlands Day, celebrated every 2 February, reminds us of the vital role of these ecosystems in urban wellbeing. Marking this year’s theme on cultural heritage, this issue spotlights the links between traditional knowledge and sustainable urban wetland management.

We’re also proud to announce the appointment of Piia Elo, Mayor of Turku, Finland, as our new ICLEI Vice President, joining the ICLEI Presidium led by President Mayor Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh, alongside Vice Presidents Mayor Mohamed Sefiani and Secretary of State Marjorie Kauffmann.
