The Geography of the SDGs

More time to put the SDGs on the map.
Following strong interest in our Special Issue, The Geography of the SDGs, we’re extending the abstract submission deadline to 31 October 2026.
The Sustainable Development Goals were never meant to be implemented only from national capitals.
Cities and regions are where global ambitions meet local realities. And that makes SDG localisation more than a technical exercise. It is also territorial and political: shaped by governance structures, institutional capacities, spatial contexts, and different development pathways.
The Special Issue welcomes research examining how cities, regions, and other subnational territories contribute to the implementation, governance, monitoring, and political translation of the SDGs.

The new abstract deadline is 31 October 2026. Full manuscript submissions are due 30 December 2026.
