Reflecting on Hydrometeorological Disasters in Bali and NTT
Our thoughts are with all those impacted by the recent devastating floods and landslides in Bali and Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT). These events tragically resulted in loss of life, destroyed livelihoods, and deeply affected communities. Such disasters are not merely natural occurrences; they are often amplified by human-made factors, including existing policies and planning. The urgent need for improved spatial planning and flood mitigation strategies is now more apparent than ever to safeguard our communities.
Building a Resilient Future
At the Research and Development Institute (RDI), our commitment is to support local resilience, champion effective flood management, and equip communities to prepare for future risks. To further this mission, we’ve created the Multihazard Preparedness (MHP) Knowledge Hub. This platform is a central resource for in-depth analysis, pioneering research, and dedicated advocacy on a wide range of hazards from floods and droughts to earthquakes and other climate-related threats. By addressing these dangers in a comprehensive and integrated manner, the hub empowers communities, policymakers, and stakeholders with the essential knowledge and tools needed to anticipate threats and significantly reduce their vulnerability. Together, we can build a safer and more resilient future.
