Core Qualification Framework

Chevening does not merely evaluate academic marks; it screens for mid-career professionals capable of driving positive policy, economic, or social change in their home countries.

  • Work Experience Requirement: A minimum of 2,000 hours (equivalent to ~2 years of full-time work) accumulated through full-time, part-time, voluntary, or internship roles.
  • Academic Threshold: An undergraduate degree equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honors degree in the UK.
  • Return Condition: Mandatory commitment to return to your home country for a minimum of two years after completing your studies to contribute to national development.
  • Course Selection: Applicants must select three eligible, master’s courses across UK universities and secure an unconditional offer from at least one during the selection process.

1.Draft Four Core Chevening Essays: August – October 2026.

Write and refine the four mandatory 500-word essays focusing on Leadership & Influence, Networking, Studying in the UK, and Long-Term Career Plan.

2.Submit Chevening Online Application: Deadline: 6 October 2026 (11:00 UTC).

Complete your personal details, work history, course choices, and essays via the official online application portal (chevening.org).

3.Apply directly to 3 UK Universities: Late 2026 – Early 2027.

Submit separate admission applications to your three chosen UK master’s programs to secure conditional or unconditional offers.

4.Interview & Document Verification: March – May 2027.

Shortlisted candidates undergo a rigorous panel interview at the British Embassy or High Commission in their home country.
