Environmental views to urban planning
The structure of the book is arranged in eight chapters. In the first chapter, the effects of the city and urban life on the environment at the local and global levels have been investigated and the necessity of integrating environmental issues and urban planning has been explained. The second chapter is dedicated to explaining the concepts of sustainability and sustainable urban development and describes the characteristics of sustainable cities. The third chapter examines greenways as a strategy in sustainable city planning, and each of the fourth to eighth chapters is dedicated to one of the proposed approaches in the field of sustainable city planning. Eco-cities are one of the most famous approaches that are described in the fourth chapter. In this chapter, after explaining the concept and history of eco-cities, the ideas of eco-city planning and their indicators and goals, as well as the geography of eco-cities, are presented. In the fifth chapter, the approach of the green economy and the means of its realization, as well as the type of sustainable cities that the World Bank has recently proposed as economic-ecological cities, have been described. The sixth chapter is dedicated to the healthy city approach proposed by the World Health Organization. In the seventh chapter, the approach of the resilient city, which is proposed in response to environmental crises with urban dimensions in various fields such as natural disasters and hazards caused by human interference such as climate change and its effects, is described. and finally, in the final chapter, the characteristics of smart cities and their role and performance in the sustainability of development, from aspects such as reducing energy consumption and the resulting results, have been stated.
