October Newsletter: Shaping Tomorrow Together

At the World Future Council, our mission remains clear: to safeguard the Rights of Future Generations and Nature, ensuring that today’s decisions reflect long-term responsibility, peace, justice, and sustainability.

Recent months have shown that change is happening — and happening fast. Yet, we face immense challenges: human-induced climate change, the proliferation of armed conflicts, and a growing lack of trust in global human rights systems.

The recent Advisory Opinion on Climate Change delivered by the International Court of Justice underscored that States, as well as non-state actors, bear strict obligations to protect the climate and the environment for the benefit of future generations. This aligns deeply with our Councilors’ work across generations to foster healing, understanding, and transformative change.

In June, we also marked a milestone: the 25th Anniversary of the Earth Charter movement, receiving blessings from our Honourary Councilor Pauline Tangiora, with reflections and contributions from our Founding Honourary Councilor Herbert Girardet and many others who have carried this vision forward.

Together, we remain committed to advancing a just and sustainable future for all.
