Achieving Indonesia’s vision to expand andenhance active mobility in its cities

Indonesia aims to establish a sustainable transport system that prioritizes
walking, cycling, and other non-motorized modes of travel. Its National Vision
for Non-Motorized Transport Infrastructure sets out a plan that underscores
the role of such active travel as part of a wider effort to tackle interconnected urban
challenges: increased road traffic congestion, air pollution from transport emissions,
and health issues linked to sedentary lifestyles. The national strategy aims to provide
safe, convenient and equitable mobility options that can improve the quality of
life in cities, and reduce the air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions that stem
from urban travel.
