Can Cities Navigate The Polycrisis Era?

Guadalajara, rainwater is empowering women and enhancing public health.
đź”´Families living without tap water in drought-prone neighborhoods must collect water from trucks to be able to cook, drink and wash.
đź•’Women and girls spend up to a quarter of their time collecting water, which means they have less time to study or work. The water they collect in buckets is often contaminated and is barely enough for their daily needs.
đź’ˇThe Institute of Planning and Development Management of the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara, together with the government of the state of Jalisco is installing more than 12,000 rain nests to deliver clean water to homes.
Collecting and distributing rainwater is reducing health risks and freeing up time for women and girls to follow their dreams.
