Empowering the Next Generation of Climate Leaders

ICLEI – a global network of local and regional governments committed to sustainability is at the forefront of this movement. Its member cities are actively partnering with youth to advance inclusive climate action, recognizing that the voices and ideas of young people are essential for a just transition. By bringing youth to the decision-making table, these governments aren’t just giving them a seat; they’re creating a more resilient future for everyone.

A Platform for Young Voices

To truly amplify their perspectives, ICLEI is launching “Youth Voices,” a new guest op-ed and blog series. This platform is designed to be a megaphone for young people, allowing them to share their insights, experiences, and solutions directly with a global audience. It’s a powerful way to ensure that the passion and innovation of youth are heard and integrated into climate and sustainability efforts worldwide.

Youth at the Forefront of Food Systems and Nature

Beyond policy and climate action, young people are also revolutionizing local food systems. The article highlights three ways youth are actively influencing how their communities grow, access, and consume food. Additionally, a new toolkit is being introduced to help local governments co-create Nature-based Solutions with young people. This practical resource helps bridge the gap between policy and on-the-ground action, ensuring that urban greening and environmental projects are both effective and truly reflective of community needs. It’s a powerful reminder that when it comes to building a better world, the youngest among us often have the boldest ideas.
