The circularity gap report 2025

The World Circular Economy Forum 2025 kicked off in São Paulo, Brazil, bringing together global leaders to discuss sustainable growth, regenerative economies, and bioeconomy strategies. It brought to light that although we’ve made small steps forward, global circularity is still moving in reverse, highlighting the urgent need for science-based targets to drive change.

The latest Circularity Gap Report 2025 is a wake-up call for businesses, policymakers, and individuals alike. Despite widespread commitments to sustainability, our reliance on virgin resources continues to grow, pushing the planet beyond safe boundaries. The report reveals that only 6.9% of the 106 billion tonnes of materials used worldwide come from recycled sources. Here’s how the global circularity rate has changed, over the years.
