Engagin and Empowering Citizens for the net zero transition

How should we engage and empower citizens for the net zero transition?
Yesterday, in a panel discussion, I was asked about the barriers to achieving net zero.
One point I emphasized on:
The role of residents..
We often think of governments and businesses as the main stakeholders in achieving net zero. And yes, their role is critical.
But I believe there’s another equally important part of the puzzle. The choices, behaviors, and voices of people can make or break the success of climate action.
Without people at the centre, even the strongest policies risk failing.
The OECD’s report “Engaging and Empowering Citizens for the Net-Zero Transition” lays out four pillars of an effective government–citizen interface:
– Access to Information & Open Data
– Public Communication
– Meaningful & Inclusive Participation
– Behavioural Science to Sustain Change
Read the report if you are trying to work in the net zero field.
