NACTO Update: August 20, 2026
Executive leadership transition: NACTO Executive Director Ryan Russo will depart after a two-year tenure marked by expanded member value, landmark guidance, and a stronger national voice for cities.
New members: This summer, NACTO welcomed two new transit agency members: Brockton Area Transit in Massachusetts, and the San Mateo County Transportation District (SMCTD), the administrative body for several transit networks serving Californiaโs San Mateo County, including SamTrans and Caltrain.
Apply to join the Designing Cities 2027 Member Program Committee: NACTO is looking for 15 staff from member cities and agencies to plan, organize, and lead a peer session at Designing Cities 2027: Nashville. Member Program Committee members receive one complimentary registration to the conference and build connections with peers and the NACTO team. They meet monthly and have access to office hours, planning templates, and other tools to ensure their success. Apply by Friday, September 11.
