The Circular Economy

The concept of a circular economy is driven by three critical factors:
๐ฟ the scarcity of resources,
๐ฟ the diminishing availability of landfill areas, and
๐ฟ the pursuit of sustainability
In contrast to linear models, which often lead to material wastage through landfilling or loss of material access – thus depending heavily on new, unprocessed materials for production – circular models strive to โclose the loopโ on resource use. This is why the term โcircularityโ is used.
However, it is important to note that loop closure is just ONE aspect of advanced circular economies, which typically incorporate a variety of environmentally sustainable practices and not just circularity in isolation.
