Recycling is not the same as circularity.

Recycling is not the same as circularity.
We often use recycling and circular economy as if they mean the same thing.
They don’t.
Recycling asks:
What can we do with this material after it becomes waste?
Circularity asks:
How can we keep products and materials in use for as long as possible?
That means thinking about more than recycling.
♻️ Reuse
🔧 Repair
🔄 Refurbishment
📦 Better product design
🌱 Waste prevention
♻️ Recycling
Recycling is important. But if we keep producing products designed for short use and disposal, recycling will always be playing catch up.
Maybe the bigger question isn’t:
“How do we recycle more?”
Maybe it’s:
“How do we create less waste in the first place?”
That’s a question worth exploring.
What do you think: should we focus more on improving recycling, or on preventing waste before it is created?
